Kauai Hawaii, May 2018

We departed the Big Island and took a short hop to Kauai and spent a week there.  Kauai is the oldest of the Hawaiian island chain.  A month before we arrived they experienced a huge amount of rain and some areas were closed off to us.  We did get to visit most of the island. Virtually all of the Northwest side of the island is rugged mountain terrain and only available, if at all, on foot.  So we took a helicopter ride over the island and in these pictures you can see how rugged the terrain is.

We also took a Twilight cruise along the Napali coast.  In these pictures you can what this terrain looks like from the sea.

On this cruise we saw some of the local animal life.  Here are some dolphins and a sea bird.

After spending three weeks in Hawaii we headed home.  We stopped for two nights in San Diego to get our bio-clock somewhat adjusted.
